Avis Rental Car Insurance. Buy or not?

I have visitors coming from Asia and will need to rent a car for 10 days. Should they buy temporary auto insurance from Avis? or from someone else, and what coverage exactly will they have to get?

They should check first to see if and what they are covered for with their own personal auto insurance and their credit card coverage. This may be limited because they are renting in a different country. If they are not covered for the vehicle than they should definitely look at purchasing the optional damage waiver that is sold at the rental counter. Hope this helps!

Buy the coverage offered by the Rental company……always! And avoid the hassle!

Their might be some type of limited coverage on their charge card but avoind the hassle if something major happens!

They may have insurance where they live. It could be unlikely they would be covered overseas. More than likely the rental car company would not rent the car to them without the insurance. They could have a difficult time collecting from them overseas. They will probably end up with it, regardless. You may want to check with a few rental companies for the best rates. It will be 10 days, you may get some better deals. Good Luck!
